We are looking for an experienced assistant Front of House manager to assist the general managers in directing daily business operations. The assistant FOH manager should be experienced in a supervisory role, and be able to confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives in the absence of the general manager.
The AFoHM should be clear and decisive but also compassionate and approachable, balancing the needs of the restaurant/customers with those of co-workers. Most importantly, we want to create a warm, inviting, & fun space for our co-workers that is filled with dine in guests!
Responsibilities:
Shift work earning tips as well as administrative work at a higher hourly rate.
Cooperating with the general managers and assisting with anything from project planning to staff management.
Nurturing positive working relationships with staff.
Train, coach, and develop crew members and team leaders on exceptional dine-in service
Develop enthusiastic and engaging relationships with guests to create loyal business
Delegate tasks to team and provide follow-up
Hold team accountable for their performance; provide coaching and counseling as needed
Provide effective, open, and consistent communication on goals during team meetings while recognizing positive contributions
Learn food and drink menu thoroughly and be able to train others on it
Ability to serve and pour alcohol responsibly and to correct specifications
Ensure team provides fast, friendly, and accurate service
Assist in development of promos and FOH marketing ideas – social media postings, a plus!
Ability to work during high-volume pressure while still maintaining the service standard
Effectively handle customer concerns or issues
Ensure food quality, restaurant cleanliness, service and alcohol safety standards are met
Participate in controlling costs, portions, variances and inventories within the restaurant
Create a space where people want to work and dine
Assist with restaurant duties – answering phones, placing orders, cut table, dishes, etc
Ensure proper cash handling and deposit procedures are followed
Ensure appropriate inventory and ordering systems are in place
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with customers and co-workers
Possess a positive attitude and ethics which support our values and culture
Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume, clean, customer-focused restaurant
Ability to understand financial reports and or goals
Strong time-management skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize
Ability to stand/walk for approximately 8-10 hours per day
Available approximately 32+ hours per week; able to work flexible hours necessary to manage and operate the restaurant effectively, including weekends and closing shifts as needed
Excellent leadership and organizational skills with attention to detail
Proven track record of exceptional customer service
Education/Experience:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Previous restaurant management experience is required
Bartending experience is a plus, but willing to train the right person who has management experience
Essential Physical Functions:
Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.
Ability to stand/walk for 10 hours per day.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Will frequently lift, reach, bend, stoop and carry.
Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors.
Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music and customer traffic.
Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: gluten, dairy, soy, egg, shellfish and fish.
