Quality Technician - 1st Shift

Job Title: Quality TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Quality Technician, you will acquire samples of tubing at the mill and test and inspect them for conformance to applicable manufacturing specifications. You will report test results to Mill Operators. The tests include dimensional tests, mechanical destructive tests, corrosion tests, tensile, yield, elongation testing, microscopic analysis, dye (liquid) penetrant testing, hardness testing, surface roughness testing, visual analysis, and product marking verification. Additionally, you will perform final dimensional and surface finish inspections of tubing at the polishing operations and report results to Polisher Operators. You will record inspection and test results utilizing the Quality Control Database and carry out other inspections/tests as required by manufacturing specifications, failure investigations, and product development. You will also perform internal calibrations and assist in maintaining the Gage Calibration System, as well as setup and verify gages and inspection equipment used by production personnel.Responsibilities

Acquire samples of tubing at the mill for testing and inspection.

Perform various tests including dimensional, mechanical destructive, corrosion, tensile, yield, elongation, microscopic analysis, dye penetrant, hardness, surface roughness, visual analysis, and product marking verification.

Report test results to Mill Operators and Polisher Operators.

Record inspection and test results in the Quality Control Database.

Perform additional inspections/tests as required by manufacturing specifications.

Conduct inspections and testing related to failure investigations and product development.

Perform internal calibrations and assist in maintaining the Gage Calibration System.

Setup and verify gages and inspection equipment used by production personnel.

Essential Skills

5 years of experience as a Quality Technician

Proficiency in using micrometers and calipers for quality checks

Experience with blueprints, visual inspection, quality checks, and final inspection

Strong skills in inspection, quality control, and quality assurance

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with calipers, micrometers, and gauges

Ability to perform internal calibrations

Experience in maintaining Gage Calibration Systems
