Position Overview:The Food Safety Quality Lab Technician reports to the Food Safety Quality Manager and is responsible for monitoring and maintaining key indicators of product safety and quality. This role involves inspection, testing, and communication to ensure plant floor operations align with food safety and quality policies. Additionally, the technician drives continuous improvement based on KPI performance.Job Responsibilities:
Ensure all food safety and quality programs are executed and documented properly to surpass company, industry, and customer expectations.
Collaborate with operations and technical services to investigate non-conformances, identify corrective actions, and implement preventative measures.
Collect raw batch and finished product samples for quality tests at specified intervals and compare test results against customer specifications to determine conformance.
Monitor the safety and quality of raw batches and finished goods.
Reject and document non-conforming products and notify appropriate personnel for corrective actions.
Ensure incoming materials meet specifications through quality tests and/or documentation review.
Provide positive release for incoming materials and manufactured supplies when needed.
Maintain accurate documentation of safety and quality tests performed.
Ensure products meet or exceed Food Safety and Quality Standards.
Review HACCP and quality production records to ensure proper documentation of events by operations.
Ensure employees follow all Food Safety, Quality, and GMP policies.
Perform pre-operational inspections and provide release of equipment to operations.
Participate in investigations and prevention of customer/consumer complaints.
Provide technical support when and where required.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Participate in company trainings, meetings, and team-building activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma and 2 years of experience in a food processing environment or equivalent type of manufacturing OR an Associate Degree in a Food Science-based area of study (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry)
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company procedures and governmental regulations
Knowledge of GFSI schemes, PRPs, and HACCP
Ability to apply math skills with complete accuracy
Ability to document test/inspection findings legibly and with complete accuracy
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
Ability to follow all quality policies and procedures; report and follow through on any deficiencies
Ability to adapt to changing operational and organizational needs
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a strong attention to detail
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) as well as general data entry and data management
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical knowledge of aseptic processes, equipment, and products
Flexible work schedule
Bilingual in Spanish
Certification from Better Process Control School – Aseptic Processes
