FirstEnergyAbout the OpportunityThis is an open position with the Fort Martin Power Station, Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [MP]There are two openings. These positions will work on the Technical Services team at Fort Martin Power Station reporting to the Supervisor, Technical Services.Responsibilities include:

Monitoring the condition of the generation equipment while providing both operational and maintenance support. Equipment include air compressors, coal pulverizers, boiler feed pumps and other rotating equipment and requires leading the development of repair plans

Assessing operating condition and develop plans for continued health and operation including technical direction of repairs, evaluation of improvements and development of short and long term budgets. -Developing knowledge of all the dynamics associated with the operation, predictive diagnostic data gathering and reliability focused maintenance practices that would impact the safe, environmentally compliant, reliable and cost-competitive operation of this equipment.

Assisting with solving operational issues that can be addressed with proper planning and execution of planned work and/or projects to correct inefficiencies.

Preparing financial justifications, budgeting, schedule performance and documentation of projects.

Coordinating activities of other technical services personnel that may be assigned for the purpose of routine, project and emergency issues and across all technical disciplines and will represent and report on issues for the assigned area.

Conducting research and beginning to improve work processes -Analyzing data and beginning to develop and recommend solutions

Anticipating needs and accept ownership, contribute to solutions and possess job knowledge and maturity. An employee hired at the Level IV will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Level IV employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those listed above.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university

Minimum of 4-7 years of power plant or job-related experience; knowledge of ASME piping codes and relevant standards to plant operations and maintenance is a plus. For the Advanced level, 7-10 years of power plant or job-related experience.

Possess excellent communication and presentation skills

Ability to work effectively with and lead cross-functional teams.

Able to work safe, promote teamwork and work collaboratively to achieve team goals.

Self-starter, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

Possess working knowledge of various Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Ability to lead contractors and promote good working relationships between departments

Ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines and to ensure resolution of plant problems.

Ability to identify equipment failure mechanisms, root cause, short-term corrective measures and long-term actions needed to minimize the impacts on generation

Possess an aptitude for proactive versus reactive approach toward equipment reliability

Able to safely perform equipment inspections using personal protective equipment (PPE), as needed, in a confined space or on scaffolding.

Demonstrated multi-disciplined problem solving

Computer proficiency in business software.

Proficiency in engineering economics and budgeting is required.

Ability to work extended and off hours and must be willing to respond to equipment related issues on a 24-hour basis. Requirements for
