Assistant Director of Communications and Internal Operations

The Mountain East Conference (MEC), an NCAA Division II member conference, is seeking applicants for the Assistant Director of Communications and Internal Operations position.

This role will provide support for all external communications initiatives and will contribute to various elements of membership/conference staff support.

Communications

  • Support all external communications initiatives at the direction of Associate Commissioner for Communications

  • Recaps for select events (football and basketball game days, select championship events)

  • Player of the Week press releases

  • Graphic design support for weekly and annual awards, standings updates, statistical leaders, etc.

  • Assist in all social media

  • With the use of Production Truck software, clip game-day highlights for football and basketball and post to social media

  • Assist in streaming of championship events, media opportunities, and post-game press conferences

  • Develop creative content (written, graphic, and video) to help promote the league and engage its audience

  • Assist in the maintenance of conference record books, including layout using InDesign

  • Manage, monitor, and update MountainEast.org for accuracy on schedules, statistics, and standings

    Internal Operations

  • Various elements of membership/conference staff support including: internal database management/maintenance (administrative/coaches/committee contacts), academic calendar tracking and consolidation, championship/host manual updates and developments, championship survey development and dissemination, miscellaneous data collection, and deadline tracking, GoogleDrive organization, and maintenance, other items as assigned

  • All elements of game film/video management: serve as the primary point of contact with/between Synergy & HUDL representatives, coaches, and Supervisors of Officials, facilitate technical support requests from coaches/officials to Synergy/HUDL, notify coaches/administrators of missed deadlines, lead communication process among coaches/opponents/conference office as issues arise

  • Officials’ payment process: responsible for schedule crosscheck with Arbiter, institutional athletic websites, and conference websites, lead communication process among coaches/supervisor of officials as issues arise, compile/track campus and sport-specific schedules to assist with invoice creation and reconciliation, execute bi-weekly transfers and payments

  • Responsibility for all championship award/signage/t-shirt orders, drayage, etc.

  • Minute taking and archiving for meetings

  • Sport liaison for men’s and women’s tennis

  • Championship liaison for men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf and baseball

Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Previous work experience in college athletics is preferred.

Ability to work office hours during the week, as well as nights, weekends, and some holidays is required.
