Pear Peach Thinning

Hiring for 2-3 temporary positions as a fruit thinner - prefer some experience but will train - will need transportation - located on the west edge of Yakima - involves working with a 10 foot aluminum orchard ladder - job may last around two weeks - ready to start - will be on your feet and using hands the entire work portion of your shift - small 3 acre family orchard that's here for the good of the community - producing some of the finest pears and peaches in the world. Entry level job and we have not been making money - pay is commiserate due to the current situation. Pay day is on the 15th and the end of the month. Thinning the bottoms of the trees will be working - standing on the ground. Working off an orchard ladder to thin fruit from the tree tops unreachable from the ground. Flexible to your schedule but we do need someone who can work daily through the time we finish up - intent is to harvest a very large pear - will need to be able to identify quickly which pear to leave and which pear or pears to remove - remove all the small pears - remove all excess pears - removing all misshapen damaged or second bloom pears - spacing of fruit left on the tree needs to be how we want it requires removing certain using best judgment off what we want - whether a branch will break off and needs pears removed to prevent that from happening at harvest time - identifying the correct pear to remove and ability to work using both hands - working hard while on the clock and providing value for pay - these are the things we will be looking for in a prospective new hire.
