JOB POSTINGJOB PURPOSE: The Network Administrator Sr. administers and maintains the District’s corporate network infrastructure including implementing and maintaining hardware and software solutions necessary to support the reliable operations of the District’s wired and wireless network infrastructure.JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. EF 60% Installation, configuration & maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain network switches, routers, wireless controllers, wireless access points, and supporting management, monitoring, and licensing systems.2. EF 20% Patch Management: Responsible for cabling and patch management in all data centers, monitoring traffic and network performance, troubleshooting, resolving problems, and implementing tuning and load balancing measures to proactively ensure secure, reliable, and highly available network operations. Patch and update network devices to ensure security vulnerabilities are mitigated in a timely manner while maintaining a highly available network.3. EF 5% Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain procedural documentation and network diagrams. Follow prescribed standards and policies including change management procedures.4. EF 5% Backup: Backup and protect the configurations of network infrastructure systems and ensure appropriately limited access to system design, configurations, and documentation5. EF 5% Internal Resource: Function as technical networking resource for System Administration and IT Operations staff. Function as a technical team member to advise management, compliance teams, and planning teams regarding network infrastructure. Communicate effectively with stakeholders.6. EF 5% Disaster Recovery: Cooperatively establish and test high availability solutions and disaster recovery plans.7. EF Ongoing Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.8. EF Ongoing Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Preference given to Cisco network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP.Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 6+ years’ experience administering a multi-user network including Cisco networking design and architect work.Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.Knowledge:• Advanced knowledge of Networking, including wired and wireless, routing and switching, DNS, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP.• Advanced knowledge of network and computer systems security architecture.Skills & Abilities:• Strong analytical and problem solving skills• Conceptual and critical thinking skills• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive and responsive relationships with end users as well as vendors and contractors.• Ability to design, implement, administer, and maintain an enterprise network infrastructure.• Ability to monitor and analyze network performance, including troubleshooting and developing and implementing solutions for network problems or performance issues.• Ability to constantly learn and effectively apply new technologies while maintaining prior competencies.Language Skills: Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.Computers & Equipment: A fully skilled incumbent will have the ability to utilize the following software, hardware, or equipment:To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to have advanced knowledge of Cisco networking, DNS systems, Raditwo factor authentication systems, NTP, SNMP, Windows Server and PC Operating Systems.
