Orchard and Pioneer Middle Schools, Columbia, Mission View, Lincoln, Newbery and Lewis & Clark Elementary

Varied Days and Hours - Up to 3.0 hours per day, up to 5 days per week - 2020-2021 Grant-funded positions

Salary: $16.00 per hour (new) / $16.50 per hour (returning staff)

DESCRIPTION:

The goal of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) is to raise math and literacy levels, improve academic performance, strengthen social relationships and provide meaningful opportunities for students in the After School Expanded Learning Program.

The Enrichment Activity Instructor (EAI) will report directly to the 21st CCLC Site Coordinator at their designated site(s). The Site Coordinator coordinates and supervises all 21st CCLC Program activities. After School Programs will conduct program activities and homework support online and / or in-person, varying per site.

Applications should include a letter of introduction that indicates the topic / activity you plan to lead. Past topics have included dance, STEM, Cooking, Leadership, Arts & Crafts, Drama, Music, Active Games. Other topics considered and welcomed!

Develop, implement and lead engaging activities with elementary and middle school students. Assist Site Coordinator in recruiting students to those activities. Create lessons that emphasize Project-Based or experiential learning. Submit a written lesson plan to the Site Coordinator with identified learning goals. Collect supplies or submit supply lists to Site Coordinator. Manage classroom behaviors and student attendance records. Leave classroom clean and organized. Attend all professional development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with elementary or middle school students. Experience working with online platforms (Google Suite, Canvas, Zoom) preferred. Knowledge, background and passion in the subject area. Ability to relate well with students, staff and parents. Strong human relations skills. Ability to create enrichment activities in both video-based and in-person formats. Bilingual preferred. Experience working with low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds preferred.
