About the Role:

The Special Projects Division of KPFF is growing and looking for an ambitious and initiative-driven Civil Engineer to strengthen our dynamic team in Tacoma, WA. You will be on Ruston Way, with a view of Commencement Bay, In Tacoma, WA. working on a diverse range of heavy civil, industrial, and transportation infrastructure projects. As a key member of our team, you'll not only refine your existing expertise in heavy civil infrastructure projects, but also dive deep into the realms of design, project management, and delivering unparalleled client service. What You'll Be Doing:

Civil Design and Development:

Apply your engineering expertise to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to devise innovative solutions drawing on best practices in areas such as Railway Infrastructure, Stormwater Management, Port Facilities, Fisheries, Cruise Terminals, Small Boat Harbors, and Marinas.

Contribute to projects involving waterfront developments and industrial developments, leveraging your skills to drive successful outcomes in these specialized areas.

Learn to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies to contribute to project success.

Gain experience in ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements.

Enhance your skills in identifying and overcoming challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches, utilizing both traditional and modern engineering techniques.

Project Leadership:

Assist in managing project tasks, ensuring efficient coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.

Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development.

Client Engagement and Exceptional Service:

Foster strong client relationships by actively listening to client needs, providing clear communication, and delivering customized solutions that align with their objectives.

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance and proactive support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Who We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification requires, PE Preferred

Minimum three years of full-time experience in design

Experience designing civil infrastructure on the waterfront and industrial sites and/or major transportation infrastructure.

Working knowledge of Washington Department of Ecology Storm Water Design Manuals

Ability to fulfill duties as civil technical design lead.

Ability to manage or assist in the management of projects.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

Proficiency and experience in AutoCAD for construction document creation.

Preferred familiarity with Civil 3D and MicroStation.

Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment.

Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.

Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and exceeding expectations.
