About Us:

FMI Transportation is a growing company with a fleet of 25+ Class 8 trucks and 60+ trailers. We specialize in maintaining and repairing Peterbilt 579 (2019-2024) with PACCAR engines and Kenworth T680 with Cummins engines, as well as a variety of trailers including dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and tankers. Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our Class 8 trucks and trailers to the highest industry standards. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering quality work. We will also train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform preventative maintenance and advanced repairs on Class 8 trucks and a variety of trailers

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PACCAR and Cummins engines

Conduct DPF system maintenance and repairs

Repair and replace critical components including:

Tires, brakes, drums, hubs, bearings, and seals

Air lines, spacers, fittings, and related parts

Suspension systems: springs, hangers, equalizers, and axles

Electrical and lighting systems

Structural repairs: roofs, panels, floors, doors, and railings

Mud flaps, brackets, and landing gear assemblies

Perform DOT-compliant inspections and ensure all repairs meet or exceed safety standards

Document and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance

Will be required to be on-call over the weekend 1-2 times a month, the shop phone will alternate between all members of the shop

Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatch, and supervisors to ensure timely service

Qualifications:

3+ years of diesel mechanic experience (PACCAR and Cummins engines preferred)

2-3 years of trailer repair or related experience

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently

Class A or B CDL is a plus but not required

Must have own set of hand, air, power tools or be willing to buy as you go

The shop has a wide range of tools, diagnostics and other tools for the job

Welding, carpentry, and fabrication skills are a plus but not required
