The Chief of Police serves under the general direction of the Mayor and City Administrator. The Chief is responsible for the protection of life and property and the maintenance of order within the City of Cheney. The Chief of Police is a working department head while managing the activities of the Police Department and is responsible for the ongoing application of personnel and equipment in the enforcement of the law.
The Chief of Police provides administrative direction through the promulgation of policies, procedures and directives for the department and direct instruction to department supervisors.
The position manages the fiscal issues of the Police Department.
