The position of General Manager (GM) is the pivotal role in providing support to the Employees in a fast-paced Retail I502 store. Incredible organizational skills & attention to detail are a must, along with a commitment to excellence. The GM oversees and controls the day-to-day operations of the retail store to ensure that the company and regulatory standards and expectations are consistently met. The GM recruits, trains, develops and supervises all staff. The GM manages the operation of the store, ensuring that staff actively complete their assigned duties while acting in a professional manner, following the WSLCB regulations, store policies and procedures. As GM, you'll set the tone for the store culture, lead with vision, and ensure seamless customer experience while meeting key business metrics. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about developing people, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves to get things done.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performance

● Adopt and follow industry guidelines established by Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board and the Store, ensuring compliance.

● Complete all tasks delegated by the business owner, on time.

● Directly responsible for achieving annual retail sales goals ($4M plus).

● Develop programs and procedures to meet sales and profit goals and reports on key metrics (sales, discounts, labor costs, staff productivity, inventory mgmt/auditing, purchasing, profitability, etc.) that drive the business.

● Use insights/data to develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to make sound business decisions.

● Leverages these metrics to manage product pricing, margins, labor costs and related expenses to meet profitability objectives.

● Responsible for financial and business cost components; including purchasing & overhead expenses, labor hours, while monitoring progress towards planned targets.

● Participate in monthly financial reviews and performance reporting

● Complete filing of invoices, manifests, till receipts, cash ledger transaction tracking, Sample tracking, Cash deposits and banking receipts daily.

● Uses QB to write checks for vendor payments and process payroll.

● Uses POSaBit for inventory tracking, product re-ordering, aging product management, discount use, employee sales performance, etc. Ability to problem solve and resolve issues with in-store technology.

● Ability to accurately account for all cash flows in the business, securely prepare cash deposits, prepare change orders and manage receipts and records ensuring a complete auditable record of all cash transactions.

● Reconcile daily POS till transactions.

Purchasing/Promotions

● Responsible for managing the Purchasing process and employees. Lead the product-pricing strategies with guidance from Owner.

● Monitor the purchasing budget ensuring adequate product inventory.

● Determine Advertising and Promotions needed for holidays/special events and complete tasks needed for customer messaging, Social Media content posting and in-store signage.

Personnel

● Manage all daily store operations including staffing, scheduling, and coverage

● Sets direction and team expectations for the staff by coordinating and communicating operational, purchasing, retail and inventory management objectives and changes.

● Engages in employee management (interviewing, hiring, training, monitoring performance, directing re-training, providing performance evaluations, counseling and behavior feedback).

● Responsible for overall satisfaction, safety and security of all customers and employees.

● Ensure that employees follow WSLCB I502 rules, regulations, safety standards and labor laws.

● Assisting the sales team by providing all relevant customer feedback.

● Conduct sales and customer service meetings with staff to communicate business objectives.

● Handling and resolving customer complaints by obtaining all relevant data and addressing all questions effectively and promptly.

● Responsible for labor expense planning, mitigating over-time costs.

Skills and Specifications

Ability to compile data to create Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

Must maintain a high level of professional interaction with vendors, customers and employees. Present yourself as a professional at all times.

Must demonstrate the ability to consistently lead by example, manage, motivate, delegate tasks and communicate positively to store personnel.

Ability to interview, train, coach and counsel Sales Associates.

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks necessary to accomplish goals, develop a schedule to complete tasks and execute to achieve the results on time.

Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends & holidays as needed.

Knowledge of a wide range of cannabis, paraphernalia and typical goods and services of retail cannabis store.

Attention to detail to ensure inventory tracking and cash management procedures are followed.

Qualification and Education

Our General Manager needs to possess strong leadership and employee coaching and management skills, effective written & verbal communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills and a solid foundation in business, sales, marketing, advertising and regulatory compliance. A high level of integrity, personal motivation, adaptability and working with a sense of urgency is desired. Must commit to coming to work sober. Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field is preferred.

3 - 10+ years of experience in multi-functional retail management in a fast-paced retail sales environment with direct supervisory experience is required. Other relevant non-cannabis retail management experience may be considered.

Benefits and Compensation

Pay range between $65,000-$75,000/yr
