Events Specialist

The Events Specialist will be a temporary part time position that attends general community events and resource fairs to promote and market the agency with a specific focus on Energy & Utility assistance and our BIPOC community members. This position will have a flexible schedule, which could include nights and weekends, so attendance can be maximized at events. Community events will be assigned by the Energy Program Manager. The specialist must be bilingual in English/Spanish, additional languages would be helpful. This will be a temporary part time position and hours per week will vary.

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Attend outreach events as a representative of the agency.

2. Provide resources and referrals to the general public.

3. Educate the general public on our agency, mission, services, resources, and opportunities.

4. Prepare for events in advance. Print flyers, prep and pack swag, prep and pack agency branding items based on event needs.

5. Set up and take down booths, tables, etc. in line with agency branding standards.

6. Track and collect data on audience served throughout event.

7. Communicate referrals to programs and provide data collection to Manager.

8. Some data entry and tracking may be required at the conclusion of events.

9. Participate in agency meetings and trainings, as required.

10. Other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED/HSE minimum required.

Previous customer service experience preferred.

Or a combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work.

License(s) & Certification(s)

Must have valid driver license and auto liability insurance if personal vehicle is used for work-related travel.

Upon hire must be trained in agency resources, referrals, and opportunities.

Skills & Abilities

Bilingual (Spanish/English) required; additional languages helpful.

Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position.

Must be reliable and dependable.

Work independently and be self-motivated.

Strong organization and time management required, with ability to multi-task.

Excellent customer service skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook programs.

Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written).

Working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, fax machine) is needed.

Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally performed in a community event environment with some in office work, unless otherwise indicated in job duties. Extended sitting or standing may be required. Sufficient mobility required for setting up and taking down booths, as well as driving. Must be able to bend, pull, twist, push and lift 30 lbs, in order to set up and take down tents and booths. Eye sight, hearing and communication ability must be sufficient to perform essential job functions. Travel within and outside Agency’s service area will be required for community outreach activities.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range between $18.97 - $23.71 per hour (DOE)
