Experienced Class A CDL Dump Truck Driver

Job Description:

Lead by example as a driver. Train, guide and address the questions of new and experienced drivers in their performance and care and use of equipment. Complete interviews and test drives, and complete check rides with current drivers. Serve as assistant dispatcher and cover dispatch during vacation or illness. Work with drivers to ensure paperwork is completed correctly, and paperwork following proper inspections is completely timely and a way that communicates any issues to the shop efficiently. Assist dispatcher with day to day work

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist the supervisor in daily operations and logistics coordination.

Lead by example while driving.

Complete check rides with both new and experienced drivers to ensure equipment is operated to the company's standard. Communicate performance observations to drivers.

Observe and communicate/address issues regarding care and use of the equipment, which could include inspections of equipment and checking in with drivers and the shop

Ensure daily pre and post trip inspections, DVIRs, and daily paperwork are completely properly and accurately

Assist drivers with questions or concerns

Facilitate communication between drivers, clients, and internal teams. Act as a liaison between office, shop and drivers, work with mechanics to facilitate communication of repeated issues

Set up new driver interviews and test drives, ideally Fridays or weekday afternoons. Lead interview and selection activities, coordinate training

Lead safety meetings

Participate in investigations, including reviewing videos, discussing with driver or subject matter expert (for example, the shop if an equipment issue)

Relief dispatch to cover vacation and illness - set up dispatch for following day, open the office, make any necessary changes, and ensure all drivers are accounted for and all jobs covered

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

MUST HAVE a valid Class A CDL and a minimum of 5 years experience operating dump trucks. Candidates with less than 5 years operating a dump truck will not be considered.

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams.

Familiarity with local freeways and highways, pits and quarries.

Knowledge of dispatching practices.

Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Suite
