Job title: Marine Electronics Technician

Department: Maritime

Location: North America/Seattle, Washington

Supervisor: Director of Commercial Service

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Purpose:

The Network Innovations Maritime team is seeking to fill a Marine Electronics Technician (MET) position at our Seattle office location. As a MET, you will be responsible for new equipment installations, including radar, VHF Radio, and GPS. Your expertise will also be sought out to assist customers with troubleshooting issues and conducting routine and emergency maintenance and repairs of existing components. You are comfortable working on your own with limited supervision but welcome working as a part of a greater team on large-scale projects.

While no experience is required, preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience as a MET or have worked in the Marine industry.

Duties and responsibilities:

· Perform repairs, installations, and maintenance of navigation and safety systems on commercial vessels.

· Monitor and evaluate customers' electronic equipment

· Operate diagnostic systems, specialized tools, and test equipment, such as multimeters, watt meters, etc.

· Perform diagnostic analysis on customer components and systems

· Compile logs, reports, and maintenance documentation for customer billing and personal payroll submissions

· Read and interpret electronic drawings.

· Follow all safety rules and wear PPE at all times.

· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

· All other duties as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications:

· Strong working knowledge of electrical safety standards.

· Two (2) years’ experience (preferred) as an electronic technician maintaining or repairing equipment on commercial vessels or heavy equipment.

· FCC GMDSS Maintainer's License or ability to acquire license within six (6) months of hire.

· Able to apply for and be granted a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card within two (2) months of hire.

· Must have own primary set of hand tools to start.

· Must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

· Must have a willingness to embrace and live the core values of Network Innovations

Working conditions and Physical requirements:

This position has a standard working schedule from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday; however, METs must be available 24/7 x 365 to respond to emergency shutdowns. Overtime is offered on a regular basis to meet our customers' operational deadlines and quotas. This position will require travel to service customer vessels outside of the Seattle region.

Walking short distances. Standing for long periods of time. Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs on occasion. Occasionally required to climb and work at heights. Must be able to finger, reach, and feel. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear emergency alarms and signals is crucial.

Education:

High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

RFI, Watt meter, spectrum analyzer: 2 years (Preferred)

field technician (electronic equip on commercial vessel): 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification: FCC GMDSS Maintainer's License (Preferred)
