Overview:
The Maintenance Electrician is a union position. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. The prime objective of this position is to ensure the integrity and reliability of all plant equipment via timely, planned, thorough and consistent maintenance activities and inspections. The electrician is responsible for carrying out electrical/maintenance processes and PM program inspections throughout the plant.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business.
- Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
- Ensure safe practices (including coworkers, employees and contractors) in all areas of his/her work.
- Report on accidents / incidents assuring follow-up as per the Richmond procedure.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial -electrical equipment installations.
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders andcoaxial cable -assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electric components.
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
- Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors.
- Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance program, inspections (first and second level) of all plant equipment, keep maintenance records and generate reports. The electrician will also be part of the Thermography program.
- Coordinates with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Maintains assigned equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Compliance with all safety policies, procedures and applicable laws.
- Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
- Must be able to work within a team environment as well as independently.
- Must be able to communicate to multiple levels within the organization.
- Must keep all company property in good working order and clean.
- Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
Qualifications:
- Certified Journeyman electrician
- Aptitude for mathematics.
- Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able identify electrical wires by color.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test.
- Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Mechanical skills are required
Experience & Skill Set:
- Certified trades person (minimum 5 years’ experience).
- Good communication skills – verbal and listening.
- Knowledge about computerized systems.
- Safety experience with lock out/ tag out and working at heights.
- Experience with PLC systems.
- PM program experience.
- Instrumentation experience.
- Experience with inspection tools and technologies (motor testing, Thermography).
- SAP experience preferred.
Wage:
- Hourly Rate/Range: $35.06-$43.06
