OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a skilled journeyman diesel mechanic with 5+ years of experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of light and medium-duty trucks and heavy equipment. The Journeyman Diesel Mechanic works a SECOND SHIFT from 4:00pm to approximately 2:00am to service the Puget Sound area of our fleet. This role offers you some interesting advantages. You will:

REQUIREMENTS

To be a good fit for the role of Diesel Mechanic you will have:

5+ years of diesel mechanic, journeyman experience including:

Skill maintaining, diagnosing and repairing trucks and heavy equipment

Manual transmission diagnoses and service

Hydraulic, air and electric brake troubleshooting and repair; brake certification

Knowledge of regulations; DOT certification, a history of performing DOT inspections

Experience with computerized diagnostic equipment

Your own set of tools (up to 2" sockets and wrenches, " & " drives)

A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; CDL Class A preferred

Schedule flexibility to meet the seasonal peak and other business demands

This position works 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with additional Saturday work, depending on demand. Demand tends to ebb and flow, particularly seasonally, so schedule flexibility and willingness to work overtime will be essential.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, as a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of trucks and heavy equipment, including pavers, backhoes, rollers, excavators and more. Your duties will include:

Performing general and special maintenance, including hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic diagnosis and repair on trucks and equipment, both in the shop and field

Completing routine inspections on trucks and equipment as necessary

Keeping accurate records in the shop maintenance system (RTA) of all repairs

Assisting with or completing the fabrication of parts and/or tools necessary to complete a specific task

Ordering and organizing parts and maintaining stock on inventory. Following up with the Shop Foreman to ensure all needed parts and/or supplies have been properly documented, ordered and/or received

Remaining at shop on designated late night until all crews have returned

Complying with and following all safety regulations

Performing other duties as required
