Huus Construct is looking to hire an experienced residential carpenter. This is a full time and long term position with full benefits and competitive pay. We are a small, tight knit group of builders, most of whom have been working together for a long long time and are looking for a good person to join the team.
We build custom single family residential homes directly for clients. most of our work is remodel work, but that includes additions, 2nd stories, and the occasional DADU. We self perform all the framing, window and door installations, cabinet installation, interior and exterior trim, we build decks, porches, and the occasional fence. basically we do all the wood parts.
Huus is also the GC on all of our projects and so we hire and manage all the subcontractors who help us put together these homes: concrete, mechanical, flooring, tile, paint, roofing, etc, etc. The subs we work with are the same on every single project and so they are all really part of the team and we have developed really good relationships with these folks.
A good candidate for this position will be someone who has at least a good general knowledge of residential construction but does not need to be expert at any one thing; knowledge of how to frame a wall is important but you don't need to be able to frame up a complex dormer for example. Being able to instal windows and hang a door is important even if you're not gonna break any speed records. What we would love to find is someone who has some good years of experience beyond being green and is looking to grow beyond their current job. Maybe you have been getting good and your current employer doesn't have the capacity to challenge you? Maybe you've been working someplace for a while and you're sick of some BS drama or bosses that yell at everyone? Maybe Huus is the place for you.
Huus is a serious company that builds high end homes, but does so with a sense of balance. We all have lives outside of work, many of us are parents and have some drop-off or pickup duties for school age kids. Huus provides paid vacation and sick leave but also has a generous non-paid leave policy which many of our crew take advantage of for longer trips. We also allow staggered starting times for folks who have morning or afternoon obligations.
