Data Center Technician level 1
Colo in Seattle is looking for a level 1 datacenter technician.
The ideal candidate would be someone who loves working with computer hardware and learns quickly and retain what they learn.
You will be learning, building, troubleshooting, racking servers and providing customer service via phone and ticketing system.
Please note this is not a system admin job and will not be managing systems. This is not a programming/coding job. This position focuses on the hardware aspect such as building servers, troubleshooting why a sever does not boot up, swapping memory, cpu, hard drive, installing base OS, running cable inside datacenter, audit cabinet for label accuracy, etc.

What You Will Be Doing:
Physical racking of equipment (rack prep, rack and stack, switches/routers)
Run fiber, power and Ethernet cabling
Replace disk drives and memory
Diagnose hardware issues
Box/unbox equipment including breakdown/trash
Organize packages coming in/out of data center
Location and processing of Overdue RMAs
Conduct fiber work (scope, light meter, cleaning)
Requirement:
Customer Service Oriented personality
Experience in building/troubleshooting server hardware (not laptop or desktop)
CompTIA A+
1 year of IT helpdesk experience or 3 years in a customer service related environment
Ability to run cable neatly inside server/cabinet/datacenter. (Having things working is not enough. Your work must
also look very presentable)
Experience in working in a datacenter is a plus
The shift schedule is:
3 days x 12.5 hours per day in 1 week
4 days x 12.5 hours per day in other week
Sunday is the alternate day
1st shift is 4am - 4pm
2nd shift is 4pm - 4am
There is a lot of downtime for the night and weekend shift.
During your down time, you are encouraged to browse internet forums to help others with their hardware/IT or datacenter questions with the hope they have colocation needs that we can help with. You will get a very generous commission for any lead you bring in.
Hourly: $25/hr
With overtime, you can expect a minimum of $60K/yr
Sales commission will be on top of the $60K
This is not a remote work. You must be onsite to do this work.
