This position will last until the end of October and starts again in spring around April.
The office assistant helps with email and telephone correspondence between the farm and its members, does some data entry in the form of google spreadsheets and payroll, reviews members' accounts for errors, communicates with other farms that we purchase fruit, cheese, etc through. Candidates must have excellent customer service, be detail-oriented, and computer savvy. Social media experience and confident phone call demeanor are very helpful!
This position works closely with the farm owners, who strive to create a healthy workplace environment. We love to work with people who have a positive mindset, are reliable, and are emotionally intelligent communicators.
Over time the goal would for the office assistant to work independently on projects, create & maintain organizational systems, and be able to solve problems as they arise with the input of the farm owners as needed.
This position is part-time, averaging about 24 hours per week during our farming season. Optionally the hours could increase to include assisting in washing and packing produce up to full-time hours if desired.
Responsibilities include:
Pack CSA boxes, organize packing shed if needed
Track inventory, and label orders for delivery
Communicate with the delivery team
Manage social media and internet ads
Answer phones, return voicemails, respond to emails, send mail
Make local deliveries, coordinate deliveries or pickups with distributors
Qualifications:
Ability to use tact and diplomacy and work cooperatively and in collaboration with others
Advanced customer service skills, both on the phone and in-person
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Applications including sheets, docs, notes, tasks, etc
The schedule is flexible. Office tasks can be conducted three days per week. Start time is also flexible between 7-8:00 a.m. but work must be conducted in person at our office on the farm for the first season or until established with the farm owners. There is a potential to go remote after a full season of in-person work at the farm.
