Part-time public defender in Sumner - Bonney Lake Municipal Court

Attorney needed to assist public defender each Thursday in Sumner Municipal Court. Must be full member of Washington Bar (no Rule 9s). Attorney will assist in handling arraignments, pretrials, and review hearings. Not required to handle motions or trials or perform any out of court research (unless the atty wishes to do so for additional compensation). This is an independent contractor position (no benefits). One year commitment preferred. Ideal for young attorneys seeking courtroom experience or established attorneys seeking a little extra guaranteed monthly income. Work schedule would be THURSDAYS ONLY 8:30 - 4:30. 1,300 / month flat fee (no billable hours to track). Available April 15. Sumner Municipal Court is located in Bonney Lake Municipal Court but has a separate Judge, Public Defender, and Prosecutor. The courts share support staff. Attorney must appear in person each Thursday (no ZOOM appearances).
