Learn More About Shoreline AND Video Tour Our Campus!This position is part of the advanced manufacturing program at Shoreline Community College and supports the training students in CNC machining, quality assurance, programming, machine maintenance, robotics, and mechatronics. Under the general supervision of the Dean of STEM-Career Technical Education (CTE), and in close coordination with Manufacturing Technology Department faculty, this position is responsible for managing and maintaining the Manufacturing Technology Machine Shop/Lab located on campus. This position attends to the day-to-day operations of the machine shop in support of instructors and students in the advanced manufacturing programs.Essential Job Duties: Manage the day-to-day operation of the machine shop/lab/tool room for students useConduct regular equipment/tools review to ensure readiness for classroom instruction and student useMonitor shop/lab safety and compliance with applicable government safety regulations and implement safety policies and practices developing new procedures as neededMaintain status and repair records for all equipmentStock, organize, issue, and store tools, materials, and supplies inventoryMaintain tool room procedures, including check-in and check-out processesIn collaboration with faculty, implement Lean manufacturing (5S) practicesMaintain manufacturing tools and equipment including machine preventative maintenance, machine repair, machine readiness, and tool conditionIn collaboration with faculty, configure machine placements, oversee shop order and cleanliness, and maintain organization and storage of all equipment, tools, and suppliesAdvise faculty of shop/lab status and recommend actions; communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with instructors and staff; supervise students' workInvestigate growth and change possibilities for the shop/lab and develop and implement new approaches and strategiesPrepare order requests for equipment and supplies in ctcLink (a Peoplesoft program) and arrange for deliveryParticipate in Advance Manufacturing Technology Department meetings and represent the department at campus meetings as applicableOther duties as assigned of a similar level/natureQualifications Required Education & Experience:High school diploma or GED AND 4 years experience ORAssociate's degree AND 2 years experience ORBachelor's degreeKnowledge Of: Machine maintenance and minor repair including CNC machinesTroubleshooting machine maintenance and minor repairsHand tools and machining toolsOSHA safety practices and regulationsLean Manufacturing practicesOrganizational processes and shop practices, including maintaining inventories, scheduling, and filingMicrosoft Office applicationsSkill In: Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsivenessTime management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/prioritiesEntering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systemsHandling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound judgment within College/legal guidelines Fluency in the English language, and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, students, staff, and others, including individuals with limited English language skillsEstablishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levelsWorking with diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous, and helpful mannerWorking independently as well as in a team settingOrganizing managing time and tasks, and prioritizing work outcomesInitiating tasks, and working with accuracy and attention to detailConditions of Employment Physical Work Environment: The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered), however this position is assigned to full-time in-person on site work. Please note, there may be limited opportunities for online work depending on program or area needs. If authorized for online work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs.Terms Of Employment/Salary: This position is allocated to pay range 42, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with a schedule dependent upon department needs. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.
