CULINARY ASSISTANT (30–40 hours per week, contract hourly)

Salary $25 – $30 per hr

ChefSteps, a wholly owned division of Breville Group, is seeking a CULINARY ASSISTANT to join our Seattle-based team.

As a Culinary Assistant, you will support our culinary team by assisting with all operations in our high-energy test kitchen. You will work closely with our Kitchen Creative Director to support recipe development for editorial, as well as production for video and photo shoots. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and studio space. This is a unique opportunity to work and learn in a highly creative and collaborative test kitchen environment at an innovative food media and technology company.

This position is on-site in our studio kitchen in the historic Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA. Our culinary team works in-person, Monday–Friday. You will be reporting to the Kitchen Creative Director in Seattle.

Responsibilities

Daily cleaning and organizing of test kitchen and studio space. This includes receiving and putting away orders, washing and putting away dishes, cleaning common areas, taking out trash, and organizing equipment and props.

Support the culinary team for recipe development and production, helping the team stay on schedule and meet editorial deadlines. This includes culinary prep and recipe cross-testing.

Ingredient shopping for recipe development and production shoots. This includes managing kitchen inventory, placing orders, and making grocery runs to keep our kitchen well-stocked and running smoothly.

Requirements

Culinary school certificate and/or 2+ years professional cooking experience.

Organized and detail-oriented approach to work.

Keen interest in recipe development and food content creation.

Ability to meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Obsessed with maintaining a clean and organized space.

Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.

Valid driver’s license and a car (for ingredient and equipment shopping outside of Pike Place Market).

Ability to lift 50 pounds.
