The Promotion Discovery team is looking to hire an amazing Software Development Manager to lead the team into the future. Promotion Discovery team is focused on continuously improving the end-to-end point-of-sale discounts promotional shopping experience for customers worldwide. The team will both (1) drive products and features that surface promotions to shoppers through simplified UIs that focus on high-value actions and (2) improve the Promotions Platform in ways that allows Amazon teams to easily leverage promotion information for their businesses. Promotion Discovery strives to raise the bar on discoverability, eligibility, and redemption of personalized promotions. Promotion Discovery is a key component in the Amazon eCommerce Foundation.

As the Promotion Discovery software development manager, you will own and influence the architecture and technical strategy of the team. You will interact with business and technical leaders, gather customer feedback, and build out your roadmap. You will drive engineering best practices, set standards for operational excellence, and drive continuous improvement. You will be in charge of an engineering team and be expected to hire and grow software development engineers.

Create, execute product/technical roadmaps and project plans

Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior leadership

Work closely with senior engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics

Set clear, measurable quality goals for your organization in a data-led way

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Experience with OOP, Java or C and professional software engineering and DevOps practices, including best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Experience with SQL and No SQL data stores •

Experience with distributed computing and software development and design best practices Experience taking software products from inception to customer delivery.

Experience in leading full stack engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Agile software development methodologies.

3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams. Proven track record of hiring and managing high performing engineering teams .

Breadth and depth of experience building and managing software systems and teams and organizations Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders Excellent prioritization and time management skills •

Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what's necessary to drive your projects to completion .

Proven track record building high-performing software development teams .

Passionate about delivering the right things for your customers at very high quality Experience in B2C domain Experience in designing and building sophisticated fault-tolerant distributed systems
