Carsoe, a globally recognized manufacturer of cutting-edge equipment for the onboard seafood and food processing industries, is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Seattle. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess robust experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Engineer at Carsoe US Inc., you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and refining our product line, primarily focusing on conveyor systems and processing equipment for the fishing industry. You will use your expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create detailed designs, manage drawings, and troubleshoot mechanical and fabrication challenges. This role also involves special modifications to existing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development: Create new designs and modify existing ones, ensuring adherence to Carsoe US standards.

Production Drawings: Generate accurate production drawings for both internal and external fabrication.

Sheet Metal Layout: Develop precise sheet metal layouts for laser cutting.

Sales Drawings: Produce clear and concise sales drawings and layouts.

Documentation: Contribute to the creation of user documentation and instruction manuals.

Project Management: Complete assigned design projects accurately and within established timelines.

Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with engineering leadership, operations management, and shop foremen.

On-Site Support: Assist project managers and sales teams with on-site measurements in customer production areas.

Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and shop foremen to revise shop drawings post-project, ensuring meticulous record-keeping for an updated drawing system.

Team Collaboration: Provide support to other engineers and drafters as needed.

Other Duties: Undertake other related duties as assigned by the engineering manager.

Essential Competencies:

Organization & Planning: Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.

Communication: Professional communication skills, both internally and with clients.

Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to make sound engineering decisions.

CAD Proficiency: Advanced skills in both AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in project execution.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 5+ years of relevant professional experience.

Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly processes, and the selection of standard mechanical components.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks and AutoCAD).

Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.

Proven ability to develop and maintain detailed assembly/parts drawings and specifications.

Strong problem-solving skills with sound engineering judgment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Language, Math, and Reasoning Skills:

This role requires the ability to interpret and analyze complex technical documents, write clear reports and procedures, and effectively communicate information to a variety of audiences. Successful candidates will be adept at applying advanced mathematical concepts and demonstrate strong reasoning skills in problem-solving and data analysis.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This position is primarily based in a typical office setting, with occasional travel for training which may include international locations. Physical activity is necessary, including prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as repetitive hand and wrist motions. The work environment requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment.
