MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Ocular Instruments designs and develops innovative ophthalmic lenses and instruments that are used by ophthalmologists and optometrists worldwide. We have a reputation of producing high quality optical instruments for imaging and surgery of the eye. We continually search for innovative solutions that aid physicians and ophthalmic specialists in new and improved treatments related to eyecare.

We are looking for a talented, creative, resourceful engineer to join our team. We have a variety of projects to work on from improved manufacturing process and control to new process design automation. Robust development pipeline provides opportunity to work on new product design and process /automation projects.

If you are interested to apply your knowledge and talent in the unique field of ophthalmic optics, this position may be for you. It is expected that this position will learn “what we do”, to become a main support going forward.

DESCRIPTION:

Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify and implement manufacturing process controls, improve production flow, tooling, manufacturing methods, and production equipment. Develop manufacturing guides, and illustrations. Assist in determination and cause of rejected parts and their disposition.

Direct involvement during new product development. Produce estimates of manufacturing costs and determine process capability and time standards. Conduct verification and validations tests.

SKILLS – EXPERIENCE:

BS in Engineering related field

5 years experience in manufacturing engineering environment

Well organized and able to manage multiple projects

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Familiar with processing of a wide range of materials including thermoplastics, aluminum, and stainless steel.

Experience with material processes and assembly techniques including, annealing, laminating of materials for assembly, coatings, etc.

Experience with production automation, CNC milling, CNC lathe, forming, tumbling, molding, and coating.

Familiar with processes related to optics manufacturing and inspection, such as grinding, polishing, surface measurement and microscopic inspection.

Experience with standard office personal computer applications. (MS Office)

Experience with validation activities and controls, (IQ/OQ/PQ) process maps, etc.

Experience applying statistical tools for process control, process monitoring tools, SPC, etc.

Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.

PREFERRED:

Medical device, FDA, and quality system, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, industry regulated experience.

MS Word, Excel, Visual Basic CNC programming (G & M code)
