Are you passionate about early childhood education? BYC Kids is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Teacher to join our team! Located in the Loyal Heights neighborhood of Ballard, we are a Reggio Emilia-inspired Preschool and Elementary Age Creative Arts Aftercare program that emphasizes a child-led approach to learning.
About Us:
At BYC Kids, we believe in guiding, supporting, and nurturing each child’s individual learning path.
We offer a year-round preschool program, including summer camps for elementary-aged students.
Our Preschool operates Monday-Friday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, and our Elem. Age Aftercare program runs
Monday-Friday from 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
Role Overview:
As a Lead Teacher, you’ll collaborate with our teaching team to provide a nurturing, engaging, and positive learning environment for children ages 2.5-5 and elementary-aged students. Please be confident in curriculum building and small group leadership. Having a outgoing, lighthearted and creative spirit is an essential part of the job.
In the afternoon, you’ll take on the role of lead youth coordinator and group facilitator, working alongside our Theatre and Art Teachers to deliver creative, hands-on experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate on implementing daily curriculum and seasonal activities.
Create a safe, stimulating environment for learning and play.
Plan and organize activities, art projects, and lessons to meet diverse needs.
Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, kindness, and cooperation.
Maintain classroom cleanliness and follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
Communicate with parents about student progress and any concerns.
Mediate and encourage positive peer interactions.
Use creativity and patience to adapt lessons to individual learning styles.
Stay informed on trends and best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements:
Proven experience working with preschool-aged children.
Strong understanding of child development and preschool educational methods.
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines.
Excellent communication and instructional skills.
Clean background check, driving record, and positive references.
Confidence in transporting students in our school van for aftercare.
Creativity, patience, reliability, and a friendly demeanor.
Willingness to obtain CPR certification.
