Queen Anne Cooperative Preschool is looking for a caring, creative and enthusiastic preschool teacher who is passionate about cooperative education to teach the Monday-Thursday afternoon preschool class at our school. As a cooperative school, our teachers provide an environment for children to grow emotionally, intellectually, socially, and physically while also providing the working caregivers with direction and serving as a model for working with young children.
About Queen Anne Cooperative Cooperative:
Queen Anne Cooperative Preschool is a member-run nonprofit cooperative preschool that fosters a supportive, inclusive community among our families through play-based learning with caregiver education.
Our teachers create and execute curriculum in our classes while parents and caregivers work as teacher’s assistants and support the school in an organizational capacity throughout the year. Our affiliation with North Seattle College allows enrolled parents and caregivers to receive ongoing education in parenting and early childhood development from qualified parent educators provided by North Seattle College.
QACP offers classes for Infants, Tots, Twos, Threes, and Pre-K (4-5 year old) learners. The school values play-based learning, social emotional scaffolding, lots of outside time (rain or shine), social justice, environmental education, celebration of cultures and diversity, community service, positive discipline and de-escalation, celebrations of individuals, and opportunities for children to learn to express themselves.
As a cooperative school, the Pre-K class is led by the teacher with the assistance of parents and caregivers who spend one day per week assisting in the classroom. The class is also assisted by a parent educator from North Seattle College who can advise teachers and help caregivers build parenting and classroom skills.
