With an expected increase in demand from customers to provide compliance-related information, the Compliance Specialist will be to assist in developing program materials and triage customer inquiries, as well as work with our privacy and engineering teams to provide compliance related subject matter expertise to support internally developed training and/or tool development, and engage with our service counterparts, Office and Azure, on various compliance related initiatives.The role has scope for broad impact and will require customer acumen to understand areas of need, program vision to deliver scalable and efficient R2A (Right to Audit) solutions meeting customers and regulators’ need, collaborating with various internal partner teams and ability to influence across organizational lines. The ideal candidate should have knowledge about compliance and program management. You will use understanding of policies, laws, and regulations to make judgments with minimal guidance from others to meet business need and may interpret information to protect Microsoft and customers, and move the business forward.

You will collaborate with the team on a strategy and process around compliance programs with some instruction and execute on new areas of focus that are needed based on the risk environment and ecosystem with guidance.

You will assist with requirements for building out tools and processes needed to develop products that are market-leading in compliance with peer input.

You will test controls to determine if controls are effective and identify areas to improve the controls with basic guidelines and make suggestions on how to adjust the design with minimal guidance and insight from others.

You will collaborate across teams to ensure communication and application of the same regulations and standards by relaying training to teams and beginning to own aspects of training.

You will receive some guidance on conducting routine and complex assessment/audit projects including assessing and reviewing documentation for an internal team at Microsoft; track and monitor results.

You will perform data checks for quality that contributes to reporting on compliance metrics, audit outcomes, etc., for internal and external reporting.

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Engineering, or related field

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant field

1+ years full-time or internship experience in business, legal/regulatory, compliance, audit/consulting firm

Ability to successfully collaborate, drive clarity, and ensure communication between stakeholders

Previous experience conducting external audits

Familiarity with datacenter compliance standards

Knowledge of customer right to audit programs

Previous experience working in a multinational public company

Compliance IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
