The Assistant Manager at the Port Angeles Farmers Market plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the market, which takes place every Saturday year-round, rain or shine. This part-time position requires the Assistant Manager to be present for about 8 hours each market day, ensuring that all aspects of the market run smoothly. Daily responsibilities include overseeing the opening, setup and closing of the market space, preparing the Market Manager's booth, supervising vendors during setup and breakdown, as well as helping to foster a positive and safe atmosphere for all. During market, the primary tasks are guest-focused, such as answering questions and processing EBT and credit card transactions. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Market Manager to implement programming and assist with various events throughout the year, and be available to step in for the Manager when necessary.

Responsibilities include:

Attend each weekly Market's opening and closing; cover Manager in case of absence.

Assist Market Manager in setup duties of the space and set up the Market Booth and signage.

Help supervise and direct vendors during setup and breakdown.

Engage with vendors and customers during market, build camaraderie, provide guidance and help oversee the safety and security of attendees.

Help enforce Market policies and protocols before, during and after public Market hours.

Process EBT/Credit Card transactions for guests, and be available to answer questions.

Help with end of day financial reporting.

Oversee set-up for musicians and other special events as needed.

Assist in creation of protocol and systems for market operations in conjunction with the Manager.

Maintain storage and proper use of market equipment.

Attend monthly Board meetings and assist with Board action plans and follow through as requested.

Requirements

Ability to transport self to the market in time for the start of shift.

Ability to communicate effectively with Market Manager, vendors, customers and provide excellent customer service.

Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions year-round, with extended periods of standing.

Ability to safely lift and move tables, signage, and other market items weighing up to 40 pounds and handle physical tasks such as ladder use and market setup.

Familiarity with the Olympic Peninsula's agricultural communities and Farmers Markets helpful.
