Provide best in class Health and Safety support services for the refinery
Set the strategic direction of the Health and Safety team’s efforts.
Ensure systematic and in control processes form the foundation of moving towards the next level of Health and Safety excellence, establishing a foundation formed on fundamental technical strengths
Provide visible and felt safety leadership and guidance to the refinery
Positively influence and impact change with respect to the site’s safety culture, awareness and strategic approach to managing personal safety
Provide leadership, support, and technical guidance to the Health and Safety Teams, including prioritization and coordination of work, and the development of programs and people
Work with the Leadership Team, Safety Committee, Contractor Safety Council members, and other customers to establish and maintain an HSSE culture that values and supports the Downstream Safety Leadership Principles and corporate HSSE objectives: No Accidents, No Harm to People and No Damage to the Environment
Support and contribute to the overall priorities of the organization as a member of the Extended Leadership Team and HSSEQ Leadership Staff
Support members of your team in growing and developing in their career.
Foster teamwork and collaboration on the Health and Safety team by enabling a strong one team mentality in the department
Stay current with relevant policies, procedures and regulations through company and industry networks, conferences, round tables and associations, appraising management of these developments and the potential application and impact on the refinery's operations.
Actively participate in the community of safety peers from BP’s global refineries
Oversee Cherry Point’s BP’s Human Performance agenda
Manage the budget for the Health, Medical, Safety, and Safety Committee cost centers
Deliver robust, proactive and systematic case management with respect to injuries and illnesses, ensuring compliance with OSHA's recordkeeping rule
Fulfill Operating Management System (OMS) accountabilities for 3.2 Personal Safety, 3.4 Health & Industrial Hygiene, and 3.7 Transportation
Essential Education : The role requires a 4-year degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, science, or related field.Essential experience and job requirements :
A Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) is required
Minimum of 8 years of petrochemical or similar industry experience
Minimum of 5 years in roles with elements of HSSE leadership
Desired qualifications :
A strong understanding and working knowledge of HSSE policies, procedures, standards and practices (i.e., legislation, regulation and data management)
Experience with Human Performance as it relates to occupational safety
CSP (certified safety professional) or a CIH (certified industrial hygienist)
The successful candidate will be required to provide higher levels of on-site support during refinery turnaround (TAR) periods.
