About Us:
We are a very small and quickly growing passive house certified custom home builder. We focus on high performance, passive house, and net zero style new construction and energy retrofit remodels, primarily in the Bellingham and surrounding areas. We prioritize quality over quantity. We prefer a team where ideas are freely shared and everyone takes ownership of a project. We work Monday through Thursday, don't answer calls/write emails on weekends or after 5. Both owners have little kids and believe in a healthy work/life balance making it a crucial cornerstone to the company ethos. Our carpenters will take on all aspects of the building project, from site layout to framing, siding, air sealing, window/door installation, interior/exterior trim, siding, decks, and more.
JFB is looking for one or more new team members who take pride in what they do and are willing to grow with a small company, through thick and thin. You can be mechanically inclined with no building experience and a willingness to learn or a highly skilled carpenter looking to expand your knowledge of different building techniques and science. We want to hear from you.
Skills we are looking for in a candidate:
-Honest, trustworthy, dependable and punctual
-Ambitious, curious and motivated
-Detail oriented, an "if you're going to do it, do it right" attitude
Bonus skills:
-Experience with all construction tools
-Own basic tools that you can bring to work (bags, power tools, hammer, etc.)
-Have reliable transportation and drivers license
-Able to work well individually or as team
-Perform basic through advanced carpentry skills
-High performance building experience (air sealing, exterior insulation, euro windows)
-Able to lift, twist and crawl in rain, snow and sun
-Great communication skills
