The Role of Congregational Engagement Coordinator at Interfaith Coalition
The Congregational Engagement Coordinator plays a valuable community-centered role within Interfaith Coalition, being responsible for the maintenance and development of the organization’s relationships to its congregational partners. The Congregational Engagement Coordinator works closely with various stakeholders, including faith leaders, congregation members, and volunteers to facilitate communication, share opportunities for IFC involvement, and ensure effective delivery of IFC programs. This role requires a deep commitment to interfaith dialogue and a keen awareness of the issues affecting low-income residents of Whatcom County today, as well as strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Direct Congregational Engagement
Facilitate two-way communication between member congregations and IFC staff, volunteers and Board to share information about programming, service opportunities and events.
Actively maintain current database of IFC member congregations, faith leaders and congregational representatives.
Speak on behalf of IFC at congregational services, forums and other events as needed.
Train new congregational representatives on the nature of their role and provide support as they work with their congregations to further organization’s programs and outreach efforts.
Coordinate with Executive Director on recruitment and onboarding strategy for new IFC member congregations.
External Relations
In conjunction with Operations Director and other IFC staff, collaborate with community-based social service organizations to further the organization’s mission and goals.
Collaborate with outside organizations or groups to facilitate IFC programs and volunteer opportunities such as the seasonal Winter Coat Drive and Holiday Joy programs.
Communications and Development
Contribute to communications efforts by providing content for email and social media updates.
Update content for onboarding materials shared with member congregations.
Write monthly report to IFC Board of Directors and present at board meetings 1-2x/year.
Collaborate with staff on preparation of Annual Report and provide summary presentation at IFC Annual Meeting.
Coordinate congregational auction gifts and special offerings as appropriate.
With IFC staff, contribute to volunteer appreciation efforts and events.
Qualifications, Experience and Values
At least 1 year of experience as an Outreach or Volunteer Coordinator or related role in a nonprofit social services setting.
Understanding and experience working productively with others from a multitude of backgrounds, including IFC Board, staff, volunteers, member congregations and community partners.
Alignment with IFC Mission, Vision and Values, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice, anti-oppression and advancing equity in decision-making processes.
Proficiency in all MS Office products, and willingness to learn other programs and databases.
Reports To: Executive Director
Classification: Part time (20 hours per week), Non-Exempt. M-F (flexible), with occasional weekend work as needed.
Location: In-person at IFC Bellingham office, off-site work at member congregations and program delivery sites. Hybrid work schedule available after probationary period has passed.
Pay: This is an hourly non-exempt .5 FTE position.
Anticipated starting hourly rate: $25-28/hr
