Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Human Resources Consultant Assistant 2 (Class Code 123F) in the College's Human Resources/Payroll Office. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HRCA2 contributes to a variety of HR and payroll functions and provides support to the Human Resources/Payroll Office and the campus community.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Serve as main reception point of contact. Welcome guests in a professional, friendly manner.
-Provide HR/Payroll customer service and expertise. Direct inquiries regarding a variety of HR/Payroll functions including payroll, recruiting, benefits and leave to the appropriate person.
-Oversee new employee paperwork for part-time hourly, student employees and volunteers. This includes the completion of W-4/I-9 forms, background checks, maintenance of personnel files, and providing HR policy guidance as needed.
-Correspond with supervisors to ensure a seamless onboarding process.
-Process new employee profile information into college ctcLink Human Capital Management system.
-Provide support in a variety of recruiting tasks.
-Perform HR record-keeping tasks, which include intake and processing HR forms, quarterly tracking, and archiving.
-Monitor and update employee records within college's ctcLink system.
-Process and respond to variety of employment verifications, including PSLF applications.
-Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail and packages as well as prepare and manage emails.
-Other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
-High school graduation or equivalent.
-Two years of full-time clerical experience.
-Demonstrated proficiency in office technology, in particular Excel and Word.

-Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Human resources experience.
-Punctual and regular attendance.
-Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.

-Experience providing customer support in a fast-paced environment.
-Notary Public preferred.
Salary:
-This is a 50% time, classified, WFSE (Washington Federation of State Employees) represented position. Salary is Range 44, starting at Step C, $2,059.50 per month which is 50% of $4,119.00 per month with periodic increments to $2,568.50 which is 50% of $5,137.00 per month.
Shift and working conditions:
-Position's shift is 20 hours per week and includes these possible schedules:
M-Th, 5 hours per day 9-2, 10-3, or 11-4
M-F, 4 hours per day 10-2, 11-3, 12-4
-Works on the WCC Campus
Benefits Package:
-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.
-Accrues 50% of 8 hours per month of sick leave and 50% of 11.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.
-11 paid holidays (Number of hours paid aligns with work schedule) annually.
-1 personal holiday (4 hours) annually after 4 months of continuous employment.
-3 personal leave days (4 hours) annually after 4 months of continuous employment.
