Whatcom Community College's Office of Student Life and Development invites applications for a Classified, 40% Time, Program Assistant (Class Code 107M) position. The Program Assistant will work directly with the Director for Student Life and Development to provide administrative office support and provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities:

-Provide excellent customer service in a friendly, approachable, and culturally responsive manner to all guests by responding to questions at the front desk.

-Provide administrative support for student life programs including student leadership, activities programming, and student clubs. This position primarily supports administrative needs of the Director for Student Life and Development. These and other duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating or maintaining spreadsheets, and filing.

-Work in partnership with the Coordinator for Student Life and Development when extra help is needed during large administrative support projects in Student Life and Development.

-Triage and direct patron inquiries appropriately. Thoroughly and efficiently gather information and inquiries, and compassionately educate current and prospective students about Office of Student Life and Development programs and opportunities for growth and development.

-Create and maintain file systems for various processes.

-Attend all mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and workshops. Adhere to and comply with both OSLD and campus policies and procedures.

-Administer equipment check out procedures and assist with maintaining inventory.

-Be on time and work scheduled shifts.

-Participate and practice safety, risk management, and mandatory reporter procedures. Immediately report injuries and incidents to OSLD Coordinator and/or Director for Student Life and Development.

-Assist with tasks and other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-High School graduation or equivalent.

-Experience working in an office environment

or

-Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Keyboarding and data entry experience.

-High Levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary:

-This is a 40% time, classified, WFSE (Washington Federation of State Employees) represented position. Salary is Range 37, starting at Step E, $20.45 per hour with periodic increments to $24.10 per hour.

Shift:

-Position's work schedule is 16 hours per week. There is some flexibility regarding the dates and time of the weekly work schedule. All work will be done from the Whatcom campus.

Benefits

-Accrues 40% of 8 hours per month of sick leave and 40% of 11.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.

-As soon as can be arranged with successful candidate.
