Basic Purpose Site Reliability Engineers at Navy Federal Credit Union are passionate about technology with an affinity towards automation of all things especially monotonous work. We are a group focused on providing highly scalable and highly reliable systems from inception to operation. As a Support Lead for NFCU SRE, you will serve as an expert technical liason between Business Stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure acceptable delivery of products to Business Units. You will also serve as the technical subject matter expert for an assigned area delivering complex operational support to the organization. Ensure department objectives are met in operational stability, efficiency, asset management, change control, performance management, metric development, security, and integrity of systems. Provide operational support input related to application analysis, code review, design, and programming functions.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational and development support• Oversee and coordinate recovery operations in the event of operational failure• Recommend, develop, and maintain complete and accurate documentation for supported environments• Lead and coordinate availability and performance monitoring activities and execution of scheduled maintenance activities• Provide technical support and troubleshooting• Perform analysis of applications and enhancements for process improvement or re-engineering• Coordinate, document and evaluate testing for code and/or software defects• Ensure compliance with NFCU's ISD standards, practices and processes• Initiate and prioritize multiple activities for assigned support area for completion of functions• Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring technical problems• Coordinate integration of solutions with existing applications; identify and resolve existing and potential conflicts to ensure compatibility• Serve on teams and task groups for projects/initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization• Perform engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems• Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or external contacts (e.g. vendors)• Ensure clear, concise and effective communication of material• Lead, guide and mentor team members• Coordinate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and Scrum Masters to refine team backlogs• Serve as technical lead to support work item completion and ensure work items meet acceptance criteria as part of Agile processes• Ensure code promotion process is adhered to and configuration drift is avoided• Coordinate with Business Stakeholders, Product Owners, and Product Managers to help define functional and non-functional project requirements• Ensure team is on track to meet roadmap quarterly goals• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Experienced in leading and working on projects autonomously• Experienced in agile methodologies• Experienced in supporting distributed systems• Experienced in interacting with staff, management, stakeholders and vendors diplomatically and tactfully• Proficient in SRE practices (e.g. SLI/A/O, error budgets, resiliency, scaling, performance)• Proficient in infrastructure automation and/or automated application deployments• Proficient in Information Technology operations performance, reliability, and availability metrics• Proficient in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors• Proficient in leading, guiding, mentoring, and training others• Expert in organizational, planning and time management skills• Expert in writing complex custom scripts and/or applications• Expert in debugging, code optimization, and automation of routine tasks• Expert in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems• Expert in research, analytical, and problem solving• Expert in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives• Expert in exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions• Expert in verbal and written communication• Experienced in Networking protocols and standard network architectures (e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP)• Proficient in system hardening and enforcing security standards• Proficient in presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely• Proficient in architecting, developing, and maintaining CICD tools and pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, Concourse)• Expert in development and/or operations framework methodologies (e.g. ITIL, SDLC)• Demonstrated effectiveness at decision-making, problem-solving and collaboration• Demonstrated effectiveness at automate processes with idempotency• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in providing Platform as a Service (PaaS), Containers as a Service (CaaS), and/or Serverless products (e.g. OpenShift, Tanzu, Kubernetes)• Proficient in designing, developing, and administering for systems using infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible)• Experienced in scripting (e.g. Ruby, Javascript, Python)• Experienced in automating Compliance Auditing• Demonstrated ability to communicate asynchronously• Experienced in developing Software Defined Networks• Experienced in Object Oriented Programming language (e.g. C#, C, C, Java, Python, .NET)• Experienced in implementing Test Driven Development• Previous work related experience in supporting Databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies• Previous work related experience in banking/financial industry trends, products, and services

Desired Qualifications:

• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification• Experienced in contributing to open source projects• Previous work related experience in creating private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g. Azure, Azure Stack)• Experienced in cloud migration and engineering cloud centric environments• Previous work related experience in Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Salary: $109,900 - $187,900

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
