Offering the technology transformations, strategy, and mission services needed to get the job done.GDIT is working to support the day to day IT, network, and cyber systems for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Dam Neck Activity (NSWCDDNA) and have an opportunity for a Sr. Systems Administrator.Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of networks in support of computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective components.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Train people in computer system use.
  • Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
  • Analyze equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
  • Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar technical field.
  • Seven (7) years of expert experience providing successful configuration management planning
  • DoD SECRET Clearance
  • Information Assurance Technician (IAT) -or- Information Assurance Manager (IAM) I, II or III
  • Demonstrated experience managing network infrastructure and software component types.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing reports concerning network operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting network performance issues
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing network traffic and providing capacity-planning solutions; monitoring and responding to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and/or performing oversight over testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems.
Desired:
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD and US Navy enterprise IT networks and systems.
  • Top Secret Security Clearance
