Structural Engineering Intern

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for our transportation department in the Roanoke, VA office.  As an intern in the transportation department, you will assist in the design and inspection of various highway structures. This position is expected to begin Summer 2025. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.Prepare engineering related calculations.Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.Review shop drawings.Assist in the inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.Prepare details for construction drawings using CAD software.Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
