The Judeo-Christian Outreach Center is seeking a uniquely qualified individual to fill the leadership role of Program Director. The position will provide overall supervision, leadership and guidance for the Emergency Housing and Winter Shelter programs, Day Support Center & Permanent Supportive Housing Program. All programs serve the most vulnerable homeless individuals in the Virginia Beach community. The position will be located in Virginia Beach's new Housing Resource Center located at 104 N.Witchduck Rd. The Program Director evaluates and provides on-going supervision and technical assistance to all Housing Support Specialists and Residential Services Workers to ensure homeless clients are being engaged through a trauma informed approach and receive services and community referrals to help them transition out of homelessness into permanent housing in the shortest amount of time possible. The candidate must display strong leadership qualities and have the ability to train, motivate and communicate effectively with others.

Required skills for the position include: effective leadership and organizational skills, knowledge of best practices to address homelessness, excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in order to maintain relationships with a wide variety of individuals including staff , board, volunteers, community stakeholders and organizational partners, team-oriented approach to client services and program development, willingness to work a diverse schedule, facilitation of weekly staff meetings and exhibit a high level of honesty and integrity at all times.

The position reports to the Executive Director. Minimum requirements are a 4-year degree in Human Services, Social Work or any related field. The position requires at least 3 years of supervisory/management experience with a high risk population in shelter or residential facility that provides comprehensive services, housing plan assistance and job skills training to the homeless, mentally ill, and chemically dependent populations. Candidates with experience using the HMIS system and/or certified in SOAR will be strongly considered. Knowledge of housing first principals, trauma informed care and SPDAT assessments are required.
