The pastoral search committee of Centurion Interdenominational Church (CIC) greets you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Believing that God calls pastors to shepherd His people (Jeremiah 3:15), we are prayerfully seeking God’s choice to serve as our next Pastor. The candidate must be God-fearing with an enthusiastic love for Christ, possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge of the Bible, and have a clear vision for the Church in accordance with our Church Constitution and By-Laws. We were established in 2011 when the U.S. Army departed Fort Monroe, VA and the military chapel congregation reformed as a community church. Our congregation numbers approximately 100 members and we worship in the historic Chapel of the Centurion under license from the Fort Monroe Authority.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Plan and conduct worship services, prepare and deliver sermons, and provide ordinances (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).

 Lead and teach weekly prayer meetings and Bible Studies either in-person or using teleconference and Zoom technology.

 Provide pastoral counseling, conduct funerals, and perform dedication services of children as requested.

 Preside as Chairman over the Church Council and quarterly church meetings.

 Assist lay leadership and members perform their ministry responsibilities.

 Oversee trustees visiting elderly and hospitalized members.

 Guide the Church’s evangelical growth and influence in the community through outreach programs, projects and partnerships.

 Lead in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the Church’s ministries.

 Assist the lay leadership in effectively managing congregational resources.

The successful candidate will:

 Be a licensed, ordained Minister who has received the Divine calling to preach and teach the inerrant Word of God.

 Have 5 years pastoral experience (e.g. Pastor, Assistant Pastor).

 Be an effective communicator with the ability to prepare and deliver biblically sound sermons and lead Bible studies.

 Support the church’s Constitution and By-Laws.

 Display knowledge of church administration and organizational skills.

 Be committed to church growth and membership retention.

 Articulate a vision for the church that emphasizes spiritual growth and development.

 Provide spiritual leadership that will lead the congregation to unity and spiritual maturity.

 Submit to a background check.
