Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to be an integral part of our team, based in NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia. The role involves handling procurement work and vendor management activities, with an emphasis on compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity in the Non-Profit industry. Responsibilities: Oversee all procurement and vendor management activities Act as the Administrator of agency P-Cards Handle the collection of vendor information and coordinate with departments on the establishment of vendors Manage the timely and proactive establishment of expenditure encumbrances to support prompt payment of vendors Act as a fiscal representative on all agency RFP's Oversee the creation, review, and monitoring of all purchase requisitions and service orders Perform analysis and research to ensure all needed procurements meet agency's operational and program needs Ensure compliance with all Federal/State and local regulations in all Procurement work Handle account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations Perform general ledger tasks and journal entries using Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP. Requirements Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector Demonstrated proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations Solid understanding and experience working with General Ledger and Journal Entries Proficient in Microsoft Excel Experience with Month End Close procedures Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP Experience with Purchasing Activities and working within a Purchasing Department Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong ethical standards and integrity in professional conduct Must have legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship.
