Department Summary: The Physical Security and Environmental Health and Safety Department is responsible for the physical security and environmental, health and safety (EH&S) operations across all MITRE locations. The physical security program includes general plant protection; emergency response, access control, fire and intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems augmented by a contract security officer force. The EH&S program advises the company on regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, including those promulgated by EPA, OSHA, Mass DEP, and VA DEQ.Roles and Responsibilities:

Physical Security and Safety Manager provides administrative and management oversight in planning, coordinating, and managing the physical security and environmental, health and safety (EH&S) operations across all MITRE locations.

Develops and manages a 24/7 robust security program that encompasses all functions and elements of physical security. The security program includes general plant protection; extensive use of electronic access control, fire, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems and augmentation of assigned staff by a contract guard force.

Responsible for advising the company on regulatory compliance with the EH&S regulations. These regulations include federal, state, and local regulations, including those promulgated by EPA, OSHA, Mass DEP, and VA DEQ.

Advises decisions on enterprise classified space and site construction management.

Manages a multi-million dollar global guard force contract.

Security responsibilities encompass compliance with all pertinent aspects of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), special security programs, other government regulatory agencies in consonance with technical projects and operations; maintains liaison with law enforcement and security and regulatory elements of government agencies.

Participates in recurring government and corporate audits of security activities. Maintains a physical security program to pass government security inspections.

Develops position requirements, interviews, recruits, and supervises assigned employees. Ensures the training and development of direct reports in order to satisfy operational requirements. Reviews performance of staff and recommends promotion actions when appropriate.

This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

Ten years of related security experience

Five years of management experience

Top Secret clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree with certifications in physical security preferred

SCI clearance preferred

Comfort within a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt as needed

Demonstrated superior project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail
