Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.

Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections such as urine or fecal samples.

Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to the required temperature.

Skills/Qualifications

Phlebotomy

Specimen collection

Proficiency in blood draws and venipuncture

1 year of experience in drawing hard sticks

Phlebotomy certification

Customer service

Medical and healthcare knowledge

Experience with all types of patients, including geriatric

Ability to handle hard sticks and use various needles for urine and thyroid testing

Data entry and processing skills

Detail-oriented and experienced

Urgent care experience

Work EnvironmentThe phlebotomist will be required to perform between 15-20 blood draws daily, with a focus on geriatric patients. The role involves working both independently and with other employees. Work hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with no weekend shifts.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
