Location: Lynchburg, VA Description: Our client is currently seeking a Hardware Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION: GENERAL SUMMARY:Searching for an Engineer (Electrical, Systems, Physics, or similar) to perform PCB schematic and PCB layout tasks for analog hardware development. Candidate will also support various other design and implementation tasks, including requirements reviews, design documentation updates, test development, and end-user documentation.Major ResponsibilitiesProject Execution and Reporting:•Technical Document preparation and review, including: Lifecycle Plans, Quality Plans, Requirements Specifications, Design Descriptions, Task Letters (guiding the work performed within the group toward the production of deliverable systems), Test Plans, Procedures, and ReportsFor Hardware Engineering/Design:•2D and 3D Design of electrical/control systems•Design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for use in custom/FOAK products•Component Classification and Commercial Grade Dedication•Equivalency analysis for component replacement•Reverse Engineering (hardware and software)•Project Engineering and Task Leadership/Oversight•Configuration Management (both hardware- and software-related)•Research & Development (R&D) of new products, technologies, and processes•Performing training, both at company site and on customer site, supporting the systems provided by the organization•Cross-collaboration with other 'company' I&C organizations, as well as other engineering organizations across 'company' as a whole, both locally and globallyQualifications•BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics/Physics, or Systems Engineering (with computer programming coursework or experience) and 2+ years of engineer experience•Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint)•Basic (or higher) proficiency with reading, understanding, and creating electrical system drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams•Ability to utilize laboratory equipment such as Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeters, Power Supplies, and Logic Analyzers•Classroom/Lab experience involving software and hardware integration•Strong mathematic and analytical skills•Hardware Engineering & Design•Experience with 2D CAD or 3D modelling software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks)•Skills in Analog & Digital Electronics Design•PCB Layout (using Altium, Eagle, or other).
