My firm is a nationwide search firm (headhunting firm).28 years. I have been called to fill a confidential search for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer position with a brand-new location in the Staunton area. This individual will travel to Richmond with a few overnight stays from time to time.

Base salary is between $85-115k (depends on experience), benefits, vehicle allowance and a company is available but may share with other employees.

We are a leading, nationwide xxx Products company serving North America, and are now expanding our manufacturing footprint by opening a new site in the Staunton, Virginia area. We design and manufacture top quality xxx products, in a team oriented, continuous improvement culture. Our aim is to offer the most innovate, effective products to the world.

This critical role of Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of engineering, design, and leadership duties. Projects will cover specifying CNC machines, overseeing justifications, installations, training, QC, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities. CAD/CAM and solid modeling skills are highly desired, as is a creative talent for designing new products. The ability to lead and manage strategy deployment initiatives and company growth are also key. A strong understanding and passion for waste elimination, continuous improvement, and lean principles are required.

We are looking for someone who can:

Use their manufacturing engineering experience and design skills to create new products and bring them to market, covering all aspects from design to machinery setup, and from process documentation to training and QA. Self-sufficiency and a strong sense of job ownership are essential to this position. The ideal candidate will be a great problem solver and a true disciple of lean / continuous improvement principles.

Responsibilities

Design creative new products for performance and aesthetic appeal.

Manage capital equipment projects, including justifications, project plans, implementation, quality control, and results audits.

Design equipment and methods to improve production processes and use lean tools and methodologies to drive team-based process improvements.

Reduce costs by eliminating waste in all areas of operations, including manufacturing, warehousing, and beyond.

Participate /lead daily management process and drive immediate RCA/CM by working closely with employees. A champion of the DM process.

Teach and lead others to understand and use lean/CI principles. Participate in Kaizen events. Leads kaizen events as certified.

Support Item/BOM/Shop Router development and product costing activities.

Assist with design of scheduling systems using pull system, one piece flow, TOC and other lean methodologies.

Develop Kanban and oversees material management methodologies. Achieves inventory turns, stock outs and related goals.

Ensure standard work and other process documents are followed, maintained, and improved.

Accomplish at least 8x annual salary in cost savings to company through process improvement, productivity, and quality gains, raw materials, supplies improvements, and general waste reduction. Documents improvements and quantifiable gains.

Assist VP of Operations and Sr. Staff with improvement projects and Strategy Deployment items. Leads SD action plans.

Assist with KPI reporting and data analysis to identify improvement opportunities. Leads action plans to improve KPIs in assigned areas.

Cell design. Optimizes use of floor space as measured by revenue generated per square foot and other metrics.

Assist team leaders in problem solving and improvement projects as assigned.

Ensure company safety, government compliance, and regulatory requirements are met for produced and warehoused products.

Additional tasks and duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.

10 years proven experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering field.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Passion for improving processes and driving results.
