Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a diligent Payroll Specialist to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia. This role is geared towards the financial services industry, with a focus on managing and processing payroll, maintaining payroll data, and supervising Payroll/HRIS staff. Responsibilities: Function as the payroll and HRIS subject matter expert, developing and maintaining internal procedures and controls to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. Regularly review, manage and process payroll for both exempt and non-exempt staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Maintain payroll data, including earnings and deduction codes, and tax data, such as rates and jurisdictions. Administer the company's compensation program, including updating monthly bridge updates, completing comp-ratio analysis, and internal equity reporting. Ensure all compensation plans comply with federal and state regulations, analyzing data on wages and salaries to evaluate the company's pay structure. Supervise Payroll/HRIS staff, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to promote career development and ensure high-quality internal service. Write, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools, arranging data in spreadsheets to perform calculations, find percentages, and determine ratios. Utilize software such as ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Excel for various payroll and HRIS tasks. Analyze and interpret statistics to provide an overview of findings and maintain HRIS codes and validation table information. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role Proficiency in ADP Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now Experience in administering 401k or RRSP Knowledge of Benefit Functions Experience in Full Cycle Payroll Familiarity with HR Payroll System Experience in handling payroll for over 500 employees Understanding of Payroll for multiple states Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong numerical skills and ability to work with complex data Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred Relevant certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
