Job SummarySupervises the operations of eyewear and contact lens centers as assigned throughout the Ophthalmology Service Line. Assists in the development of budget and financial performance, market development and all regulatory activities.Job Duties
Participation and Leadership Accountable, in conjunction with Department Medical Director and Eyewear Operational Manager for overseeing all operational activities for assigned Contact Lens and Eyewear Centers.
Works with ancillary services and support services (i.e. Finance, PR and Marketing, IT, Facilities, etc.) that support the operations and success of the eyewear centers.
Collaborates with clinical operations to ensure high quality of care for patients Serves as an active participant in all assigned management forums.
Strategic Planning In conjunction with Eyewear Operations Manager, plans, develops, submits and implements CORE business plans.
Establishes long-range objectives, performs market analysis and monitors the financial performance of the department.
Serves as an active participant in the development and implementation of all strategic plans for system eyewear centers.
(i.e. budgets, facilities and capital analysis, market analysis, growth plans, information systems) Participates in the development and implementation of strategic, tactical and business plans (i.e. budgets, facilities and capital analysis, market analysis, growth plans, operational contingency plans, information systems).
Service Facilitates a timely problem resolution process as needed Responsible for creating and maintaining standards, operational activities and performance measurement tools that meet operational and market needs in efficiency, quality, access and patient satisfaction.
Financial Performance Responsible for the financial performance of all assigned areas.
Maintains an overall understanding of all revenue impacting activity.
(i.e. collections, billing, payor mix,) and works with clinical leadership to address issues.
Monitors all revenue impacting activity and reports summary information to Director.
Indicating key opportunities for business growth.
Along with respective service line leaders, develops, implements and achieves budgets and business plans.
Assists in maintaining strong relationships with referring physicians both internal and external.
Able to maintain strong working relationship with eyewear vendors to obtain best wholesale cost of goods.
Human Resource Management Facilitates active engagement and communication with department staff through meetings and informal interactions throughout service line.
Completes all performance management activities for eyewear staff including evaluations Works with recruitment and Human Resources for new staff hires, completes positions justifications, as needed.
Reviews competency of staff and provides training as needed.
Facilitates skill development of all staff.
Facilitates appropriate recognition of individual and staff performance in an effort to maintain a positive and motivational work environment.
Where applicable, manages all aspects of outreach services (i.e. daily operations, finance and human resources management).
Patient Safety and Performance Improvement Ensures and monitors annual staff patient safety education Develops a non-punitive culture that encourages discussion and preventative activity of safety issues In collaboration with Eyewear Team Coordinator, develops annual performance improvement plan.
Directs and monitors ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and performance improvement staff.
Monitors all incidents and events and ensures all events are reported to PI immediately.
Monitors and maintains integrity of vendor staff and retail business Operational Improvement Guides ongoing office improvement through review of access, efficiency, and customer service goals Ensures cost effective environment with retail business and vendor bids Works with Supply Chain and other departments to assure proper inventory management of both eyewear and contact lens.
Direct supervision of assigned Contact Lens and Eyewear Center Staff to achieve teamwork and meet goals for the Service Line.
