Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVa's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

The Custodial Manager oversees, schedules, and trains the University Academic and Health Systems Facilities custodial unit throughout various facilities. Responsibilities include identifying/improving processes and procedures to increase efficiencies and quality in delivery of custodial services. Other responsibilities focus on influencing culture in positive ways in development of staff knowledge, skills and abilities so that each contributes to maintaining a high level of cleanliness in accordance with departmental standards. Also, critical to the success of this position is forming meaningful relationships with a variety of personalities and organizational levels as well as fostering positive employee engagement, morale and teamwork.

Duties include:

Supervise housekeeping staff, assign projects and ensure they are completed, and provide staff with frequent and constructive feedback. Maintain project logs and training records.

Conduct ongoing safety inspections to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.

Train housekeeping team members to perform job functions satisfactorily and safely.

Submit reports as needed for building and Grounds repairs and equipment.

Advise on materials and supplies needed and suggest possible vendors.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Three years of experience, with at least one year as a custodial team leader with full-time staff supervision. Preference will be given to applications received by September 30, 2022.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a working supervisor position requiring custodial related physical demands.

The selected candidate will need to complete the following background checks: Criminal, Sexual Offender and DMV. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $26.00-30.00/hour. Applicants new to University employment are eligible for a sign on bonus of $2,000.00. This is a full-time position with UVa benefits. Employees benefits package highlights include:
