The Vermont Maple Sugar Makers' Association is seeking a Quality Director for its existing voluntary food safety program for maple producers. The position will be responsible for designing a framework for training new program inspectors, and building capacity within our organization to provide a greater level of needed technical assistance and education on topics ranging from food safety regulations, best practices, and production methods to improve product quality.
The position will initially be a part-time, hourly position at approximately 20 hours per week with a $21,000 salary per year with no benefits. The intent is for this position to become a full-time, salaried role once a funding stream from the Certification Program is established.
This position will be responsible for:
Coordination of review process of voluntary sugarhouse certification program
Creation of program inspector training tool
Revisions of certification program inspection form, registration, and website content for program
Coordinate with designers for certification logo and related design materials
Create management templates for maple production. These will include templates for a production logbook, season start-up procedures, food safety plan, etc.
Provide technical assistance to producers as necessary and/or as funding and time allows
The ideal candidate will have food quality experience, and will report to the Executive Director along with work with VMSMA committees.
