Vermont Mechanical is seeking General Laborers to help out on construction sites in the Brattleboro, VT area.
Summary Description:
The Job Site General Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at job sites. The position may help prepare sites, bring materials to sites, run errands on site, clean up debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist and support other plumbers working on assembling and installing pipe systems, pipe supports, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Installs pipe for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, plumbing and industrial production and processing systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs a variety of tasks involving labor in HVAC construction projects.
Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Assists with materials handling and storage.
Assists with unloading trucks and materials.
Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Superintendent.
Must be familiar with jobsite safety policies and restrictions.
Understanding of all job site requirements and the ability to wear the necessary Personal protective equipment as each job site deems necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions of construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
Physical Demands

The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Some overtime may be required. Some local travel may be required.
Preferred Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED. Construction work experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
